Working primarily in mixed media, Christine Kim creates intricate paper cuttings and drawings, carving away the boundaries between drawing, sculpture, collage, and installation. She lives and works in Toronto.

I finished my first cut and installed it in the space. It's not what I wanted, but it's an experiment. Since this is my last summer, the end is near and the pressure to have my work culminate into a final piece is paralyzing. But if I just tell myself that there is no end, I think I can play in studio like I used to and be as prolific as before. It's the product that is the problem. I find that with every exhibit, it is still unfinished in some ways. One person commented that I did have an exhibit every year, but I didn't really. I just put stuff up in a formal space to see what it looked like.
I wonder how the construction people will react to the papercut tomorrow.
