Working primarily in mixed media, Christine Kim creates intricate paper cuttings and drawings, carving away the boundaries between drawing, sculpture, collage, and installation. She lives and works in Toronto.

The photography work of Zena Holloway inspired this particular piece. Her style has an eerie quality because it captures the mysterious depths, the vast and haunting unknown.. Water can be an act of purification, baptism, a return to the womb. There are references to light in the black chandelier and the pale yellow wash above. I am drawn to bodies underwater, particularly of children. The lighting underneath gives an eerie glow of skin that turns to a ghostly white marble pallor.
